Launch of the Project: Enhancing the Contribution of Palestinian Civil Society in Shaping Palestine’s Future

As part of PalThink’s philosophy of engaging in critical discussions as an independent Palestinian think tank, and in the context of efforts to strengthen the role of Palestinian civil society in shaping the political, economic, and social future, PalThink for Strategic Studies has launched the project Enhancing the Contribution of Civil Society in Shaping Palestine’s Future in collaboration with Adam Smith International.

Mr. Omar Shaban stated that the project aims to reinforce the role of Palestinian civil society in political transformation and internal reforms through the establishment of a coalition comprising 15 community-based organizations representing Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. The project will be implemented through a series of Roundtable Discussions (RTDs), which will address key political, social, and economic issues of concern to Palestinians.

He also highlighted that the project seeks to build a strong coalition of community organizations that will collaborate to achieve consensus on pressing political issues requiring urgent reforms. These include Palestinian institutional reform, expanding the role of women and youth, developing the Palestinian economy, and other issues that impact the future of Palestinians across all Palestinian territories. Through these discussions, the project will promote political dialogue among various political and social forces within Palestinian society, including civil society members, experts, and decision-makers.

He further pointed out that the project’s activities involve fostering national partnerships between organizations in the West Bank and their counterparts in Gaza to discuss critical issues and develop a unified vision to address the challenges facing the Palestinian future.

The project will also include the production of policy papers based on the analyses and outcomes of the discussions, covering key topics such as political system reform, strengthening economic security, and ensuring the fundamental rights of Palestinians. The results and recommendations will be presented in a final conference to ensure their delivery to decision-makers and influential figures both locally and internationally.

It is worth noting that this project is at the core of PalThink for Strategic Studies’ mission. The organization continues its efforts and research to analyze and discuss vital issues while providing recommendations and strategies to counter attempts aimed at undermining Palestinian society’s structure and diluting its collective national identity—especially in light of the critical historical moment the Palestinian cause is facing due to Israel’s war of extermination.
