Gaza – Pal-Think for Strategic Studies
Pal-Think for Strategic Studies has announced its official accreditation by the Palestinian Central Elections Commission (CEC) as an observer body for the 2026 Local Council Elections, scheduled for the twenty-fifth of April, in Deir al-Balah Governorate within the southern governorates of the oPt.
The accreditation was granted pursuant to Article Four of the Regulation on Accreditation of Electoral Observer Bodies and Monitors, following the submission of Pal-Think’s formal application on the eighteenth of February 2026. The Commission reviewed all submitted documents and supporting materials before issuing its final decision of acceptance.
Pal-Think expressed its satisfaction with this accreditation, viewing it as a renewed affirmation of trust in its oversight and civic role, and a reconfirmation of its unwavering commitment to the principles of transparency and impartiality that have underpinned its work since its establishment. The organization clarified that its team will operate in full accordance with the conditions and standards governing observer bodies as set out by the Central Elections Commission, ensuring that its monitoring contributes to upholding the integrity of the electoral process and safeguarding citizens’ right to free and fair voting.
The organization’s participation comes at a particularly sensitive juncture, as local elections in the Gaza Strip represent a foundational pillar for rebuilding local governance institutions and consolidating popular participation in public affairs — an area in which Pal-Think has long been engaged through research, analysis, and advocacy.
The Central Elections Commission had previously announced that local council elections would be held across a number of governorates on the twenty-fifth of April 2026, marking one of the most significant democratic milestones at the local level in the current period.
It is worth noting that Pal-Think for Strategic Studies is an independent, non-governmental Palestinian research institution working in the fields of democracy, governance, human rights, and public policy, headquartered in Gaza City.
