Continuing the efforts of Pal-Think for Strategic Studies in qualifying youth to lead a constructive role in their society, Pal-Think implemented several workshops on human rights and democracy practices, as part of the project “SWITCH: Turning the Principles of Human Rights and Democracy into Everyday Life and Practices for the People of Gaza”, in cooperation with the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A group of young men and women, which has graduated from the training program “TOT in in Democracy and Human Rights”, implement and lead the workshops as trainers to transfer the knowledge and information they qualified with within this program to other youth groups in different areas of the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This group of 52 young men and women had previously joined the program with the aim of enhancing their capabilities to disseminate the concepts of democracy and human rights and the mechanisms for transforming these concepts and principles into practices among citizens to work on achieving democracy practically and continuously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The youth began implementing the workshops in partnership with Civil Society Organizations in Khan Yunis, the MiddleN Area, Gaza, and the Northern Area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In partnership with Women Graduates Association in Gaza, trainers Mahmoud Al-Khatib and Iman Omar implemented a workshop entitled “The Right to Self-Determination as One of the Basic Principles of International Law” and its role in empowering peoples, and discussing different experiences of nations throughout history.
Also, trainers Ward Murad and Iman Omar implemented a workshop entitled “Democracy and Human Rights, and the Role of Community Participation” and strategies for activating the role of youth and graduates in supporting democracy.
In Al-Firdaws Association for Women and Child Development, in the Middle Area, trainers Daif Allah Al-Akhras and Nariman Fayyad implemented a workshop entitled “Human Rights According to International Conventions and Local Legislation” and the role of Civil Society organization in protecting and promoting Human Rights at the local level.
In the Future Charitable Association in Khan Yunis, trainers Nihal Al-Najjar and Reem Abu Arab implemented a workshop on “The Importance of Gender in Achieving Equality and Social Justice” and international laws that support this equality, in addition to the challenges facing citizens in the Gaza Strip in the same context.
In the North Area, trainers Dina Al-Rahal and Tasneem Qahman implemented a workshop entitled “Promoting Democracy and Human Rights from a Gender Perspective” at Beit Lahia Youth Club Association, and promoting a culture of human rights by adopting the values of pluralism, participation, and community responsibility.
Also in the North Area, at Alnahda Association for Development, trainers Nariman Saleh and Fadi Nasr implemented a workshop entitled “Basic Principles of Human Rights and Mechanisms for Transforming Them into Daily Practices” and discussed the impact of social roles on the individual and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshops had met with positive interaction among the young attendees, who expressed their interest in human rights and freedoms issues, especially after they and their society were exposed to the war of genocide in Gaza Strip, which is an example of all violations of human rights and freedoms, and one of the most prominent challenges facing the Palestinian society. The young people expressed their insistence on learning and disseminating the concepts of democracy in their society to ensure achieving sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is worth noting that these workshops are still ongoing in partnership with Civil Society Organizations and targeting young people in all governorates to promote awareness of democracy and human rights to achieve societal stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
