Young Academy Trainers Conduct First Workshop on Women’s Rights, Social Reality
Young “PalThink Academy for Democracy and Human Rights” trainers have implemented their first awareness workshop about “Women’s Rights and Societal Reality” at Al-Shorouk Association for Community Development, as part of the “PalThink Academy for Democracy and Human Rights – Phase II” project, supported by the German Federal Foreign Office’s funds by ifa’s Funding Programme zivik.
PalThink had trained a group of Academy members through an advanced training program entitled “Training of Trainers in the Field of Democracy and Human Rights (TOT)” with the aim of honing their skills and introducing them to civil society as young trainers capable of spreading democratic and human rights awareness in society in general, and their peers in particular.
Team coordinator Ahmed Jaber and his colleague Nour Abed opened the workshop and introduced PalThink and its work. Then, they reviewed the reality of women’s rights in Palestine, and the most important challenges they face.
Young Academy member Kamel Jouda spoke about Palestinian and international legislation related to the protection of women’s rights and highlighted the societal initiatives concerned with supporting women’s rights and improving their reality.
Jouda also spoke about international and local legislation and mechanisms related to protecting women’s rights. Meanwhile, Shahd Abu Dahrouj facilitated a set of interactive activities aimed at enhancing joint youth action in supporting women’s rights and advocating for their issues.
The trainers concluded their workshop with the audience by presenting working mechanisms to confront all forms of gender-based violence and the role of youth in supporting women’s issues.
